EGCO Group receives “UN Women 2024 Thailand WEPs Awards” for Gender-Inclusive Workplace

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group received the first runner-up of the “UN Women 2024 Thailand WEPs Awards” for Gender-Inclusive Workplace category, marking its third wins from this award. This confirms EGCO Group’s strong corporate culture of respect for difference, support for gender inclusivity, and commitment to promoting women employees and executives’ capability and empowering them in driving company’s sustainable growth. Ms. Salil Tirawat, EGCO Group’s Executive Vice President - Corporate Management, represented the company at Thailand Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards 2024 Ceremony held by UN Women in cooperation with the Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and partnering organizations in Thailand. The ceremony was recently held at the Berkeley Hotel, Bangkok.

Ms. Salil Tirawat, EGCO Group’s Executive Vice President – Corporate Management, said that, guided by the belief that “a good beginning would bring a good result”, EGCO Group places high importance to the development of its people who are the key resources of the company and significant drivers of national economy. The company, therefore, fully respects differences and supports and promotes gender inclusivity without discrimination, as clearly seen from the transparent recruitment, selection, promotion, assessment and remuneration consideration process. This opens opportunities for all employees to gracefully and equally make good progress in their career. Such practice has resulted in widely recognized corporate culture and outstanding human rights protection.

“Receiving Thailand WEPs Awards for the third time clearly reiterates EGCO Group’s outstanding action related to gender inclusiveness in workplace. Ensuring equitable treatment of all employees is the good beginning for creating a safe workplace that leads to building strong bonding among people within the organization. As a results, we have observed improved work efficiency, higher participation in creating and promoting corporate growth, and success in attracting highly capable people to work for us. Throughout these years, EGCO Group has continuously promoted women executives and supported skill development for women employees at all levels that enable them to move up the corporate ladder. We strongly believe in women’s capability and potential to drive sustainable corporate and social development,” Ms. Salil added.

Thailand WEPs Awards was initiated to recognize organizations and leaders for their efforts in advancing gender equality and empowering women’s potential. The awards were presented in six categories. The Gender-Inclusive Workplace category is designed to recognize organizations with outstanding efforts in implementing and integrating gender inclusiveness concept into its human resource development practice across the entire organization. This also includes ensuring equality and inclusiveness in related workplace design policy, such as recruitment, remuneration, safety and well-being, as well as capability and leadership improvement in order to ensure all employees have equal opportunity to progress in their career regardless of their gender preference.

EGCO Group earlier received the highest Thailand WEPs Awards for Transparency and Reporting, and honorable awards for Gender Inclusiveness in 2021, and the top award for Transparency and Reporting in 2022. The company also joined WEPs Signatories network, showing its commitment to driving business at the global level towards equality and sustainability. Today, over 10,000 companies worldwide, including 2,500 in the Asia-Pacific, have already joined this network.
