Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group, in collaboration with the Thai Conservation of Forest Foundation (TCOF or Thairakpa Foundation), a non-profit organization established and supported by EGCO Group, and Doi Inthanon National Park, is offering an exciting opportunity for senior high school students or equivalent level students across the country to embark on an adventure to explore the rich biodiversity and discover the connections between species in watershed forests during the “60th EGCO Forest Youth Camp.” This year’s camp, themed “Discovering Biodiversity in Doi Inthanon,” aims to inspire young participants to embrace nature conservation and the harmonious coexistence of humans and the environment. The camp will take place from 22-28 March 2025, at Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai. Interested individuals are invited to submit “essays” or “short videos” showcasing their ideas on nature conservation by 1 March 2025 for a chance to secure a spot in the camp.

Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, EGCO Group’s President, said, “EGCO Group remains committed to the belief that “a strong foundation leads to better outcomes.” We have long focused on instilling awareness of natural resources and environmental conservation in young people, who are at the beginning of their educational journey and our future. Since 1997, EGCO Group has been organizing the EGCO Forest Youth Camp. Over the past 27 years, we have hosted 59 camps, engaging more than 3,500 young participants. In 2025, the 60th EGCO Forest Youth Camp will provide another opportunity for the youth to gain firsthand experience and discover the importance of watershed forests, which are essential sources of life and energy, and their interconnection with biodiversity and livelihood. The camp will take place in the watershed forests of Doi Inthanon, serving as a living classroom rich in fertile ecosystems, wildlife, and plants all interconnected. We hope this experience will inspire participants to actively pursue natural resource conservation and biodiversity preservation in a sustainable way.”

Exciting activities at the “60th EGCO Forest Youth Camp” will include a train journey transporting 70 selected participants from Bangkok to Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, they will spend seven days and six nights camping and learning biodiversity at Doi Inthanon watershed forests. During this time, they will embark on a walking journey along the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail, exploring diverse plants and geographical conditions. Participants will discover the unique ecosystem of the freshwater swamp along the Angka and Yod Doi Nature Trail and explore the natural classroom of the 6 Men’s Embrace Forest. Beyond learning about nature, they will also have the opportunity to connect with new friends from across the country. The entire camp, including all activities, is fully funded by EGCO Group.

Interested senior high school students or equivalent level students can apply now until 1 March 2025, by 12.00 Hrs.
