EGCO Group’s “58th EGCO Forest Youth Camp” Open for Applications to Explore and Appreciate Doi Inthanon Watershed Forest
Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group and Thai Conservation of Forest Foundation (TCOF), a non-profit organization established and supported by EGCO Group, and Doi Inthanon National Park call for applications to the “58th EGCO Forest Youth Camp” to be held under the “Inspired by Nature” theme from 23-29 March 2024. Recruited senior high school students or equivalent level students nationwide will participate in the camp located in watershed forest and be aspired for forest conservation and harmony living with the nature at Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai province. To apply for the program, interested persons can send “an essay” or “a short video clip” by 6 March 2024.
Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, EGCO Group’s President, said, “EGCO Group strongly believes that “a good start brings great result.” To groom environmentally responsible future generation, we, therefore, have to instill conservation spirit among young people who will become our future. The EGCO Forest Youth Camp was initiated in 1997 as a mechanism to promote social and environmental responsibility. Until now, 57 batches of over 3,400 young people have joined the program. In 2024, participants in the 58th program will have direct experience living with and learning from important watershed forests, which are the origin of energy and biodiversity. Recruited senior high school students or equivalent level students from across the country will join this interesting trip and enjoy the chance to observe, learn, and be aspired by the nature and the complex ecosystem. We hope this will inspire them to find more creative ways to protect and conserve natural resources and the environment. Additionally, we hope they can apply what they will learn from this trip to their daily lives. After the camp ends, we will organize other environmental activities to keep the learning momentum going.”
The 60 participants to the “58th EGCO Forest Youth Camp” will begin their journey on a train trip to Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai. During this program, they will go camping in the watershed forest area for seven days and six nights, and spend time learning about the rich ecosystem in the natural classroom. Walking through the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail, they will have the chance to explore different geographical areas and biodiversity. In addition, they will build and grow their own network of young conservationists. The entire program will be funded by EGCO Group.
Interested persons can apply now until 6 March 2024 by filling online application form and send either “a hand written essay”, no longer one A4 page, or a 2-minute “short video clip” on “Inspired by Nature, Expand on Creativity” theme. The application is available at https://bit.ly/3uDq3We.
