Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group and Khanom Learning Center joyfully reveal the exhibition for young people at the National Science and Technology Fair 2023. The exhibition, which will be held from 11-20 August 2023 at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani, Hall 11, is designed under the “Scientific Innovation Discovery Journey; Future Energy for Life” theme, with the first and only floating power plant replica as a highlight. Visitors have the chance to learn more about the evolution of energy from the past to the present and the path towards a low-carbon society. Presented at the booth opening ceremony are Asst. Prof. Dr. Rawin Rawivongse, President of the National Science Museum (NSM), and representatives from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

Mr. Thawat Hirancharukorn, EGCO Group’s Executive Vice President – Asset Management, noted that EGCO Group and Khanom Power Plant under EGCO Group strongly believe in the concept that “The Good Start Will Bring Greater Result”. Therefore, the company has been promoting knowledge about energy and the environment among Thai youth. Promotion of energy-related technology, innovation and science knowledge and capability through the Khanom Learning Center, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, established and operated by EGCO Group, as well as the organization of annual Science Week events at the learning center are part of EGCO Group’s efforts that have been continued since 2019.

“This year is the first time that EGCO Group and Khanom Learning Center participated in the National Science and Technology Fair. We made a replica of Thailand’s first and only floating power plant as a highlight of our exhibition and proudly displayed it at the fair. It is our intention to promote and inspire borderless learning where students, young people, educational institutes, and the general public have easy access to knowledge without going into a classroom. They can learn more about energy security and balance. At the same time, science and energy learning will be expanded throughout the wider public and become more enjoyable, creative, and inspiring. It encourages people to ask questions that are useful to creating a life-long learning society and supporting the development of a low-carbon society,” said Mr. Thawat.

Ms. Pinsuda Piampiti, EGCO’s Vice President-Corporate Affairs, added that the exhibition of EGCO Group and Khanom Learning Center is designed under the theme: “Scientific Innovation Discovery Journey: Future Energy for Life”. It comprises three zones as follows:

•  Zone 1: Cleaner, Smarter, and Stronger to Drive Sustainable Growth: In this zone, technicians from Khanom Power Plant and the locals from Khanom are waiting to greet visitors. They will introduce the concept of the importance of energy security and balance in driving low-carbon society development, the importance of electricity, energy innovation, and the environment, which are keys to address the global climate change issue.

• Zone 2: Discover the Journey of Future Energy for Life: Visitors will explore the energy world in the immersive theatre where a story about how Thai energy industry has been transformed from the past to the present and towards a low-carbon society in the future.

• Zone 3: Energy Transition for Better World: Clean energy that is important to support energy transition is featured in this zone. Visitors will enjoy an experiment of generating electricity from hydrogen and learn more about different kinds of renewable energy in this “Renewable Lightbox”.

In addition, the six EGCO Rangers who will save the world from the Dark Devil will be waiting to entertain visitors. Other activities, including quizzes, are both fun and educational. After the National Science and Technology Fair 2023 ends, EGCO Group will move its exhibition to Khanom Learning Center, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Young people in southern Thailand with special interest in science and technology visiting the center will have chances to enjoy learning about electricity generation, future energy innovation, and the environment from this special exhibition between 4-13 September 2023.
