EGCO Group Donates Bt36 Million Worth of Medical Supplies to Help Medical Staff Fight Against COVID-19
To support medical teams to fight against COVID-19 and provide the best possible treatment to infected persons, Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group has donated Bt36 million worth of necessary medical supplies and equipment to support medical teams in infected patient treatment.
Dr. Gumpanart Bumroonggit, Senior Executive Vice President – Strategy & Asset Management and Acting President of EGCO Group, said that EGCO Group was seriously concerned with general public health and safety, especially of medical staff who are at the front line, during COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. After the first batch of Bt15-million donation provided to 24 major hospitals to support medical equipment and supplies purchase, the Company made more donation and raised funds through cooperation with various organizations as follows:
- Supporting the Innovation Fund of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering to build robots and medical equipment under the “CU-RoboCOVID” project which is aimed to increase safety for medical staff involved in COVID-19 patient treatment. The Company donated Bt1 million for this project.
- Cooperating with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) in building 30 negative pressure mobile beds worth Bt2 million.
- Preparing to donate 1,000 UVC tubes worth over Bt700,000 through the Ministry of Public Health to the SOS to Medical Staff in COVID-19 Fight group for producing 250 UVC sanitizer boxes for face mask sanitization to be donated to hospitals nationwide.
- Cooperating with EGAT, also an organization under Ministry of Energy, to provide Bt15 million budget for alcohol supply for over 9,800 district hospitals nationwide to be used in cleaning medical equipment and their facilities to prevent the virus spread.
In addition, EGCO Group’s power plants which are located in different regions nationwide, have assisted and provided major hospitals, district healthcare organizations and surrounding communities with various forms of assistance detailed below.
Donating money to major hospitals in the areas where EGCO Group operates and those with high number of COVID-19 patients. EGCO Group also joined force with SK E&S Co., Ltd., its major partner and co-shareholder in Paju Power Plant in South Korea to donate 900 pieces of N95 face masks to those hospitals.
Providing 7,000 pieces of face shields and 6,000 pieces of fabric masks to district hospitals, village health volunteers, and those living in communities near EGCO Group’s power plants.
