EGCO Group Starts Commercial Operation of “Khanom Unit 4” Combined Cycle Power Plant in Nakorn Si Thammarat
Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group commenced the commercial operation of its Khanom Unit 4 combined cycle power plant on June 19, 2016 to replace the existing Khanom power plant of which Power Purchase Agreement expired on the same day. The official commercial operation ceremony of the Khanom Unit 4 power plant was presided over by Mr. Preerasak Hinmuangkao (5th from left), Governor of Nakorn Si Thammarat province, and Mr. Sombat Sarntijaree (5th from right), Chairman of the Board of Directors of EGCO Group, as well as witnessed by Mr. Pornthape Thunyapongchai (4th from left), Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission of Thailand, Mr. Kornrasit Pakchotanon (4th from right), Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Mr. Chanin Chaonirattisai (3rd from right), President of EGCO Group, together with lenders and consortium.
The Khanom Unit 4 power plant, located in Khanom district, Nakorn Si Thammarat province, is a combined cycle power plant which uses natural gas as a primary fuel to generate electricity. Its total contracted capacity is 930 MW. It has entered into the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EGAT for 25 years. The Khanom Unit 4 power plant can contribute a stream of stable earnings to EGCO Group and help strengthen the power system stability in southern region and the country.
