EGCO Group Starts Commercial Operation of Its Latest “Chaiyaphum Wind Farm
Mr. Chanin Chaonirattisai, President of Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group stated that “Our latest wind power plant, “Chaiyaphum Wind Farm” has commenced the commercial operation to supply electricity to the national grid since December 16, 2016. The new wind power plant would constantly provide additional revenues to the Company and help support the government’s policy in promotion of renewable energy.”
EGCO Group’s “Chaiyaphum Wind Farm” wind power plant is located in Subyai district, Chaiyaphum province. The power plant has the total contracted capacity of 80 MW, comprising 32-unit wind turbines at 2.5 MW each, and sells its net electricity output to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under a 5-year non-firm PPA for Small Power Plant scheme which can be renewed every 5 years. It is the Company’s third wind power plant following “Thappana Wind Farm” located in Thepsathit district, Chaiyaphum province and “Boco Roc Wind Farm” in Australia.
EGCO Group presently runs 15 operating renewable power plants with total equity contracted capacity of 746 MW, comprising 12 domestic plants with total equity contracted capacity of 213 MW and 3 plants in countries across the Asia Pacific region – Lao PDR, Indonesia and Australia, with total equity contracted capacity altogether of 533 MW. Those power plants generate electricity using several fuel sources such as biomass, waste, hydro, solar, wind, and geothermal. The renewable portfolio accounted for 18.11% of the Company’s total equity contracted capacity.
